CIRCLE

Circle Series was established with the aim of inscribing cultural history of Belgrade Circle, of archiving narrative strategies which produce representative minority discourse. Within the Series, we have published works of distinguished founders, members and sympathisers of the Belgrade Circle, i.e. authors of The Second Serbia who initiated political, moral and intellectual insurgence against unitary, homogenizing populism and militant nationalism. Published books by ‘outlawed’ authors who offered modernistic forms of decoding the imposed dogmas about unquestionable obedience to the nation, ethnicity – ethno-nationalism, provided intellectual community assembled around the Circle Series wide reputation and respect. Already at the early stage of its existence, this edition has become intellectual centre and moral support for unique cultural resistance to sectarian tribalism and claustrophobic nationalism. This edition provided public with most decisive critics and subversive opponents to obscure woers of ethno-nationalism. Nobody has shown better than Belgrade Circle’s authors how chauvinistic power of allegedly innocent nation is reticulated with omnipresent nationalistic violence.
